ChatGPT's memory feature is now open to all Plus users!

Just start a new chat. Tell ChatGPT, "Please remember everything."

For example, tell ChatGPT about your pets. Maybe you have a dog named Ellie and a cat named Teddy.

Later, you can ask ChatGPT to draw them. It will remember what you said before.

How does the memory feature work?

The memory feature was first tested in February. In December, there were some data leaks.

How does it work? When you chat with ChatGPT, you can ask it to remember things. Or, it can learn on its own. The more you use it, the better it remembers.

Some examples:

• If you tell ChatGPT you like meeting notes with bullet points at the end, it will remember this. It will write meeting notes this way.

• If you say your child likes jellyfish, ChatGPT might make a birthday card with a jellyfish in a party hat.

You can turn this feature on or off in the settings. If you want ChatGPT to forget something, tell it. You can also manage its memory in the settings.

Remember, deleting chats does not erase memories. You must delete the memory too.

OpenAI says it may use your data and memories to improve its models if you allow it.

You can use temporary chats if you don't want ChatGPT to remember.

This feature is unavailable for teams, businesses, or GPT builders. But OpenAI has talked about some possible uses:

• ChatGPT can remember how you like to write and format. You can use this for your blog posts.

• When coding, you can tell ChatGPT what languages and tools you like. It will be remembered for later tasks.

• For business reports, you can give ChatGPT your data. It will make charts you like, with three main points each.

GPT users have their own memory features. These are not shared with builders.
